When disaster strikes, access to safe drinking water can quickly become one of the most critical issues. FreeBact® Water makes it possible to treat locally available water on site, quickly and without advanced equipment.
5 times more effective than chlorine-based solutions and without leaving any taste.
BEFORE THE DISASTER
Preparedness starts before the crisis
Extreme weather, floods, earthquakes, conflicts, and other societal disruptions can, in a very short time, knock out waterworks, distribution networks, and other parts of the ordinary water supply.
When that happens, it's not always enough to have water. It must also be safe to drink.
By preparing for water purification in advance, authorities, aid organizations, municipalities, companies, and other actors can quickly begin treating available water when the need arises.
FreeBact® Water is suitable for both emergency stockpiles and acute interventions, from small volumes for individuals to the treatment of larger water volumes.
A small product in the emergency stockpile can provide access to large quantities of safe drinking water when it is truly needed.
WHEN DISASTER STRIKES
When water can no longer be trusted
After floods, earthquakes, landslides, conflicts, and other major societal disruptions, the regular water supply can be quickly affected.
Wells can be flooded. Pipes can be damaged. Wastewater can mix with surface water. Power outages can disable pumps and treatment plants.
The problem is that contaminated water does not always look contaminated.
Water that LOOKS clear can still contain bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms that make it unsuitable for drinking.
Therefore, a solution is needed that can be used where people are located, without being dependent on the continuous transport of pre-treated drinking water.
FreeBact® Water makes it possible to treat available water locally and create safe drinking water on site.
TURBID WATER REQUIRES THE RIGHT TREATMENT
When the water is cloudy, simply adding disinfectant is not enough
After a flood or other disaster, water often contains soil, silt, organic matter and other particles. In such cases, the water needs to be pre-filtered (e.g. with a piece of cloth/garment) to remove coarser contamination.
FreeBact® Water can then be added for microbiological disinfection.
This is also where FreeBact® Water offers significant advantages compared to traditional chlorine tablets. Chlorine is strongly affected by organic matter and turbidity, which can impair its disinfection effect. In addition, chlorine can give water a distinct taste and smell, which can make it harder for people, especially children, to actually drink enough.
FreeBact® is based on chlorine dioxide, ClO₂, which has a different mechanism of action than traditional chlorine and is up to five times more effective as an oxidizing agent than chlorine, while treated water does not acquire the typical chlorine taste or smell.
In a disaster situation, the goal is not just to find water, but to make it safe and usable.
TREAT THE WATER WHERE IT IS
Why transport water if it's already there?
One of the major challenges in disasters is logistics. Ready-to-drink water is heavy, bulky, and requires continuous transport, often to areas where roads and other infrastructure are already heavily burdened, damaged, or non-existent.
If local water is available that can be pre-filtered and treated, a significantly smaller amount of water purification product can replace large volumes of transported drinking water.
A small 150 ml bottle of FreeBact® Water Extreme treats 100 liters of water. This is equivalent to, for example: 10 large 10-liter containers of ready-to-drink water
For larger operations, the difference quickly becomes very significant, both in transport weight, storage space, packaging material, and waste.
Less to transport. More water where it's needed.
FROM ONE PERSON TO GREATER ACHIEVEMENTS
The same principle, regardless of scale
The need for safe drinking water can look completely different depending on the situation.
An individual or family may need to treat a few liters of water at a time. Temporary housing, a healthcare facility, an evacuation center, or a larger aid effort may require hundreds or thousands of liters per day.
FreeBact® Water can be used for different volumes and makes it possible to scale the treatment according to actual needs.
This means that the same basic principle can be used for both small, decentralized efforts and for larger organized water supply.
From personal water treatment to larger volumes, without making the solution unnecessarily complicated.
FROM ACUTE RELIEF TO RECONSTRUCTION
The need for safe water doesn't end when the disaster is over
The initial acute phase often receives the most attention, but damaged wells, pipelines, and waterworks can take weeks or months to restore.
Meanwhile, people still need to drink, cook, and manage their daily lives. Schools, healthcare facilities, temporary shelters, and entire communities may require alternative solutions for their water supply.
FreeBact® Water can be used both during the acute response and while infrastructure is being rebuilt. The treatment can be adapted for smaller containers and tanks, as well as larger local water volumes.
A solution for the first critical days, but also for the journey back to a functioning daily life.
WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO HELP
Humanitarian Pricing for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness
We are a business. But we are also convinced that our technology can make a real difference when people around the world are suddenly without safe drinking water.
Therefore, Xinix offers special pricing for organizations, authorities, and other actors involved in disaster relief, humanitarian efforts, and emergency preparedness.
Our ambition is simple: we want to be able to help at the lowest possible cost, while also ensuring that the arrangement is long-term sustainable for us as a company.
There is no standard solution. We prefer to help calculate the actual effort, how many people need to be supplied, how much water is needed, what local water sources are available, and what logistics are feasible.
This can range from smaller emergency stockpiles to larger humanitarian deliveries.
Contact us and we will work together to develop a solution that meets your needs.
