FreeBact® Dosage System, water hygiene throughout the entire water system
FreeBact® Dosage System is used for the continuous dosing of disinfectants in water systems. For buildings, industries, and other businesses that need to work preventively against Legionella, other bacteria, and biofilm.
Water hygiene is not just about the water that comes out of the tap. Tanks, pipes, and outlets also need to be included in the work. On the inside, biofilm can form, a coating where bacteria can grow and be protected. Therefore, both the water and the conditions in the system need to be addressed.
With FreeBact® Dosage System, the dosing is adapted to the needs of the business. Together with effective maintenance routines, controls, and follow-up sampling, the disinfection becomes part of a long-term effort to prevent the spread of infection and reduce the risk of recurring problems.
From remediation to preventive operation
When a water system already has problems, the work may need to start with remediation. Xinix also works with the remediation of tanks, pipes, and connected components, with documentation and follow-up. After that, the preventive measures that suit the system are assessed, for example, continuous dosing or recurring treatment.
90 to 98.8% lower Legionella levels
Topbostäder in Gällivare had recurring problems with Legionella in one of its properties for several years, despite previous measures.
After the installation of FreeBact® Dosage, an automated system for continuous disinfection of tap water, follow-up water analyses showed 90 to 98.8% lower Legionella levels.
The largest reduction was measured in a sample taken after a standstill, where the level dropped from 12,200 to 150 CFU/1,000 ml. At the two other sampling points, 10 CFU/1,000 ml were measured.
Biofilm can be an explanation for recurring problems. Bacteria can be protected in biofilm inside the water pipes, which makes traditional remediation efforts difficult. FreeBact® Dosage uses continuous dosing of chlorine dioxide to counteract bacterial growth and biofilm in the water system.
The results show a clear improvement and provide Topbostäder with an important basis for continued work on safe water hygiene.

Björnbadet - Sweden's first chlorine-free pool facility
Since January 2026, Björnrike Ski Club has been using FreeBact® Dosage in its swimming pool facility to ensure stable and consistent water quality. The system provides continuous disinfection without traditional chlorine handling, which has reduced the risk of biofilm and created a safer swimming environment for both guests and staff.
After the installation and opening of the newly built facility, water samples have been stable from the start. Björnrike Ski Club reports consistent and reliable water quality even during the initial operating period. Guests, especially children, experience no stinging eyes or skin irritation. Even the cafe in the adjacent lounge is very happy to be rid of the chlorine smell; now it smells of freshly baked pizza, buns, and coffee instead!
From recurring problems to zero incidents
Since January 2025, a major Baltic Sea shipping company has been using FreeBact® Dosage in its spa department to ensure water quality. The system provides continuous and consistent disinfection, which has eliminated previous problems with legionella and biofilm. Since the installation, they have not had any failures during inspections.
